Known as the makers of the world’s cheapest tablet Aakash, Canada-based Datawind have now inked a deal with Bengaluru-based, Reverie Language Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and together they will offer multi-language support on the UbiSlate range of tablets which are the commercial variants of Aakash II tablets.
In a strategic deal, UbiSlate makers, Datawind and Reverie Language Technologies will offer the content on the tablet in several major local Indian languages, like Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Punjabi and other major global languages too, thereby ensuring that the affordable technology serves to the benefit of more and more people, and not just a limited few.
WIth multi-language support English will no longer be a barrier for users looking to utilize the benefits of the world’s most affordable tablet, since the entire user experience will be in the user’s language of choice.
According to the report, the tablets loaded with the multi-language support will come with text-rendering technology, which will display all languages – that includes complex scripts and keypads for all supported languages including transliteration technology.
